About Horde Survivor

Horde Survivor is a fast, auto-attacking survival roguelite action game you can play free in your browser with no download and no install. You control a lone fighter surrounded by an ever-growing swarm of enemies, and the twist is that you never fire manually: your weapons attack automatically, so your only job is to move, dodge and position. Defeated enemies drop glowing XP gems; collect them to level up, and each level pauses the action to let you draft one of three upgrade cards. You build your own loadout from a deep pool of weapons, Magic Bolt, Orbit Blades, Searing Aura, Cleaver Arc, Chain Spark and Seeker Drone, plus stacking passives like Power, Rapid, Crit, Magnet, Armor and Evasion. Max out the right weapon alongside a required passive and it evolves into a devastating form such as the Railgun, Saw Halo or Nova Pulse. Enemies escalate over time through grunts, fast runners, tanks and elite mini-bosses, and the difficulty climbs every minute. Survive the full twelve-minute run and the game flips into Endless mode where the horde never stops. Each run earns Soul Shards that you spend in the Soul Forge on permanent upgrades, so every future run starts stronger. Your best score is saved locally.

How to play

Desktop: move with WASD or the Arrow keys; you can also click-and-drag with the mouse to steer. Attacks are fully automatic, so you never press a fire button. When you level up, pick an upgrade card by clicking it or pressing 1, 2 or 3. Press Space to start or restart a run. Mobile: touch and drag anywhere on the screen to move, using a virtual-joystick style where the drag direction and distance set your speed; lift your finger to stop. Tap an upgrade card to choose it. Tips: 1) Keep moving in wide circles to 'kite' the swarm, letting your auto-weapons mow down enemies in your wake while you stay untouched, since contact with enemies is what drains your HP. 2) Plan for evolutions early, for example stack Piercing to evolve Magic Bolt into the Railgun, or Expansion (area) to evolve Orbit Blades or Searing Aura, rather than spreading upgrades thinly across too many weapons. 3) Spend Soul Shards in the Soul Forge between runs on permanent boosts like Hardened Body and Inner Might, and grab Magnet or Wisdom drafts to pull in more XP and level up faster during a run.
